Dr. Alan Peaslee specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease and trauma. He has extensive experience with perioperative care of surgery patients.  He also evaluates Neuro-ophthalmic diseases and provides medical management of glaucoma, corneal, and ocular surface disease, and diabetic monitoring. Other areas of experience include pediatric eye care and low vision.

Following his graduation from Knox College, Dr. Peaslee earned both his Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science degrees at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. The Master of Science degree afforded Dr. Peaslee additional research training in the field of Visual Science.

His military background includes service in the U.S. Army, Active Duty, Iowa Army National Guard, and Georgia Air National Guard where he commanded the 116th Medical group. Dr. Peaslee has also been awarded several prestigious honors and accolades throughout his military, educational, and professional careers. Among those include UAB School of Optometry Clinical Excellence Award, the Bronze Star, Multiple Meritorious service medals, Air National Guard Biomedical Science Office of the Year, and the Tifton Gazette Best Optometrist. In his personal time, Dr. Peaslee has volunteered in multiple roles in youth organizations and is very active in his church. In 2014 he established a missionary eye clinic in San Pedro de Marcois, The Dominican Republic, where he continues to volunteer his time and expertise when possible.

Dr. Peaslee is also the Center Director for our North Alabama offices.

What do you love most about being an eye doctor/surgeon? Solving problems and answering patients’ questions and concerns about their eyes and vision

What career would you pursue if you weren’t in medicine? Ordained Ministry

Do you have any pets? Two dogs, 8- year-old Golden Retriever named Nala; 2-year-old Boykin Spaniel named Meeko

How do you like to spend your time away from the office? Playing Ice Hockey, Boating or on the beach
