SEES Group and VisionAmerica are excited to announce the addition of Dr. Carolyn Hebson to our distinguished team of ophthalmologists. With her dual fellowship training and extensive expertise, Dr. Hebson will further our mission of providing exceptional eye care services to the communities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.
Dr. Hebson specializes in cataract, glaucoma, and cornea treatments. She is a board-certified anterior segment surgeon renowned for her skills in incisional and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), refractive surgery, and complex anterior segment surgery. Her dedication to advancing ophthalmic care and her compassionate approach to patient treatment make her an invaluable asset to our team.
Dr. Hebson completed a fellowship in Glaucoma, Cataract, and Anterior Segment Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, where she also completed her residency. She completed a second fellowship in Cornea and External Disease, Cataract, Refractive, & Anterior Segment surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Birmingham, AL, graduating with honors. Her undergraduate studies were completed at Auburn University, where she majored in chemical engineering and received numerous scholarships and awards.
Throughout her career, Dr. Hebson has served patients across the Southeast and played a pivotal role in training Emory residents in surgical skills. Her research on the efficacy of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery has been widely recognized, and she has published papers on LASIK and hypotony associated with chronic uveitis.
